A 52-year-old Indo-Caribbean male with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) experienced recurring episodes of isolated sleep paralysis marked by fear. A worrisome yet under-reported symptom of diverse sleep disorders is recurrent sleep paralysis. Though considered generally benign, sleep paralysis in certain cases can cause substantial anguish for the affected individual. Bedroom avoidance is a characteristic exhibited by some patients, contrasting with the bedtime anxieties experienced by others, which ultimately hampers the process of falling asleep. The detrimental effects of poor sleep quality, compounded by sleep deprivation, greatly impair a person’s general health. This experience, similar to ours, caused a severe disruption to the sleep cycle. A patient experiencing bedtime anxiety and difficulty falling asleep, exacerbated by recurring sleep paralysis episodes, also suffered from poor quality sleep as a consequence of obstructive sleep apnea. This heightened susceptibility to illness brings with it a multitude of potential consequences, such as cardiovascular problems, cognitive decline, and the risk of motor vehicle accidents. Treating the root medical problem can sometimes be sufficient to eliminate recurrent sleep paralysis; as is evident in this particular instance where continuous positive airway pressure treatment for obstructive sleep apnea led to the elimination of the patient’s recurrent sleep paralysis. Raising awareness of recurrent sleep paralysis is a crucial goal, so that individuals experiencing it can pursue medical assistance and not be burdened by its debilitating effects. Sharing experiences of sleep paralysis will aid medical researchers in their efforts to understand and study the phenomenon.
Diabetes frequently impacts the musculoskeletal system, resulting in widespread, albeit not immediately fatal, complications that cause significant pain, disability, and a decline in overall well-being. A significant portion, 58 percent, of diabetic patients surveyed in 2004, reported musculoskeletal functional disability according to the National Health Interview Survey. In this study, we sought to evaluate the percentage of musculoskeletal symptoms in Type 2 diabetic patients attending a tertiary care hospital in Tripura, and further examine the relationship between these symptoms, glycemic control, BMI, and duration of the diabetic condition.
This cross-sectional investigation, performed at a tertiary care hospital in a northeastern Indian state between December 2020 and November 2021, focused on hospital patients. For this investigation, all diabetic patients who frequented the diabetes nutrition clinic of a tertiary care hospital during a one-year timeframe were included. Utilizing the patient’s history, a physical examination, laboratory tests, and imaging tests, the musculoskeletal disorder diagnosis was confirmed. Quantitative data were presented as the mean and standard deviation. Graphical presentations, specifically charts and tables, were used to demonstrate descriptive data in terms of percentages and frequencies. The chi-square test was chosen to analyze the presence of any association between the variables. With the approval of the institutional ethics committee, the research study was deemed ethically sound.
Out of a total of 442 diabetic patients, 234 (a percentage of 529%) displayed musculoskeletal symptoms; within this group, 55% were within the 45-59 year age bracket.
Diabetic patients’ musculoskeletal health necessitates regular examinations conducted by their treating physicians. Early diagnosis sets the stage for appropriate interventions, thereby preventing additional health problems and complications.
Musculoskeletal health in diabetic patients warrants regular evaluations by the treating physicians. Prompt identification of the illness allows for the application of the right care, consequently stopping further issues from arising.
The global figure for elderly people is rising at an impressive 26% each year. Understanding the health profile and healthcare demands of the aged is of paramount importance. The elderly population comprises the most vulnerable and high-risk group concerning health status. Healthcare-seeking patterns are a crucial factor influencing the well-being of any society. Educating the public, politicians, and policymakers about the complexities of the aging population’s impact on the country is essential.
To ascertain the health status and associated ailments of elderly patients attending the geriatric clinic at the medical college.
From September 4, 2016, to September 4, 2021, a five-year retrospective analysis of medical records pertaining to patients visiting the geriatrics department was performed using Microsoft Excel and IBM SPSS Statistics. A detailed review encompassing all records generated during that specified period was implemented and all records were included.
The incidence of medical and dental ailments in geriatric patients was determined through the application of descriptive statistics. An examination of the correlation between gender and medical/dental concerns was undertaken.

Geriatricians, for the most part, are unacquainted with the oral health issues affecting their patients. Geriatric care demands a more robust and effective partnership between medical and dental professionals, which is presently insufficient.
Indigenous to Eastern Asia, the herbaceous cannabis plant, a flowering species, has undergone global dissemination due to extensive agricultural practices. Prior to the early twentieth century, cannabis was used medicinally; however, its psychoactive effects eventually led to its prohibition.
The level of physicians’ knowledge at King Abdulaziz Medical City regarding medical cannabis is being assessed, including aspects such as patient requirements, perceived therapeutic efficacy, possible harm, and potential prescribing tendencies if legalization takes place in the future.
The study’s design was a cross-sectional survey, utilizing questionnaires. King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh was the location for research undertaken during the period February 2020 to February 2021. To ensure comprehensive coverage, all participating physicians from diverse specialties who consented to be involved were included in the study.
The presentation of descriptive statistics includes the mean, standard deviation, and proportions. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) was employed to assess the relationship between beliefs concerning the right to prescribe and overall knowledge. The results of all tests demonstrated substantial significance.

Liver diseases, fueled by unhealthy lifestyles, are now recognized as the leading cause of both morbidity and mortality globally. The majority of liver-related illnesses can be prevented. Rigorous scientific studies have confirmed that nearly 90 percent of major liver conditions are either attributable to asymptomatic hepatitis virus infections or to unhealthy lifestyle choices leading to fat accumulation in the liver, detectable before chronic liver disease is apparent. Preventive measures, alongside recognizing the preventable nature of liver diseases, will aid in lowering the risks of various forms of liver disease and liver cancer.
One of the distressing aspects of a couple’s relationship can be sexual dysfunction, a problem that can, unfortunately, lead to a marriage’s dissolution. A systematic study was designed to explore the elements affecting sexual dysfunction and divorce within Iran’s context.
The databases of Scopus, MEDLINE/PubMed, CINAHL, Web of Science, Magiran, IranMedex, and SID were exhaustively investigated, employing keywords relevant to sexual dysfunction, emotional detachment, separation, conflict, and Iran. From the collection of articles reviewed, sixteen satisfied the requirements for inclusion. Without a time limit, our review encompassed all published articles up to and including those from November 2021.
The current study’s assessment of the reviewed literature firmly established that sexual problems and dissatisfaction consistently played a key role in either formal or emotional divorce requests or occurrences. Analysis of the data showed that individuals approaching separation often exhibited a combination of problems, including a decrease in arousal and sexual interest, difficulty with sexual performance, various sexual dysfunctions, challenges in achieving orgasm, and the presence of physical discomfort.
