In this study, we used latent class analysis to derive distinct subtypes of self-management skills in early adolescence and latent transition analysis to examine whether movement between different classes was associated with later young adult alcohol use. Assessments of behavioral self-control, affective self-regulation, and cognitive self-reinforcement were obtained in the seventh and 10th grades from students participating in two independent drug prevention trials (control group participants only, N = 3,939). Assessment of alcohol use was obtained when participants were young adults (23-26). A model distinguishing four subtypes of self-management skills fit best for both the seventh and 10th grades. While findings indicated modest stability in class structure over time, maintaining class membership characterized by high cognitive self-reinforcement and high affective self-regulation was consistently protective in terms of young adult alcohol use relative to movement from this to other classes. Transitions in class membership involving an expansion of self-management strategies were protective and associated with lower levels of young adult alcohol use and transitions involving a contraction of self-management strategies associated with higher young adult alcohol use. This study illustrates the important use of person-centered techniques to exemplify how typologies of self-management during adolescence can play a protective role in young adult alcohol use.Aim The objective of this work was to investigate the prognostic role of the HMGN family in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Methods A total of 155 AML patients with HMGN1-5 expression data from the Cancer Genome Atlas database were enrolled in this study. Results In the chemotherapy-only group, patients with high HMGN2 expression had significantly longer event-free survival (EFS) and overall survival (OS) than those with low expression (all p less then 0.05), whereas high HMGN5 expressers had shorter EFS and OS than the low expressers (all p less then 0.05). Multivariate analysis identified that high HMGN2 expression was an independent favorable prognostic factor for patients who only received chemotherapy (all p less then 0.05). HMGN family expression had no impact on EFS and OS in AML patients receiving allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Conclusion High HMGN2/5 expression is a potential prognostic indicator for AML.An outbreak of downy mildew disease of onion, caused by Peronospora destructor, in Japan in 2016 necessitated a reevaluation of the primary inoculum sources to optimize disease management. Detection of the P. destructor pathogen in plants with asymptomatic infection and in soil would guide the application of fungicides according to the extent of infection before disease development. Here, we detected P. destructor in both plants and soil using newly developed primer sets (Pd ITS and Pd ITS 614) by both conventional and real-time PCR. Validation by real-time PCR with Pd ITS 614 showed that P. destructor DNA was amplified from symptomless seedlings at 3.7 × 102 to 1.0 × 100 conidium cells/50 mg leaf tissue, suggesting the detection of asymptomatic infection. Real-time PCR with Pd ITS amplified pathogen DNA from field soils at 1.6 × 103 to 8.3 × 101 oospore cells/g of soil. This real-time PCR assay provides a useful tool for identifying and quantifying inoculum sources, which may be the foundation of the design of integrated disease management strategies.Posttranslational modification of proteins, which include both the enzymatic alterations of protein side chains and main-chain peptide bond connectivity, is a fundamental regulatory process that is crucial for almost every aspects of cell biology, including the virus-host cell interaction and the SARS-CoV-2 infection. The posttranslational modification of proteins has primarily been studied in cells and tissues in an intra-proteomic context (where both substrates and enzymes are part of the same species). However, the inter-proteomic posttranslational modifications of most of the SARS-CoV-2 proteins by the host enzymes and vice versa are largely unexplored in virus pathogenesis and in the host immune response. It is now known that the structural spike (S) protein of the SARS-CoV-2 undergoes proteolytic priming by the host serine proteases for entry into the host cells, and N- and O-glycosylation by the host cell enzymes during virion packaging, which enable the virus to spread. New evidence suggests that both SARS-CoV-2 and the host proteins undergo inter-proteomic posttranslational modifications, which play roles in virus pathogenesis and infection-induced immune response by hijacking the host cell signaling. The purpose of this minireview is to bring attention of the scientific community to recent cutting-edge discoveries in this understudied area. It is likely that a better insight into the molecular mechanisms involved may open new research directions, and thereby contribute to novel therapeutic modality development against the SARS-CoV-2. Here we briefly discuss the rationale and touch upon some unanswered questions in this context, especially those that require attention from the scientific community.
The prevalence and associated factors related to psychotic symptoms in older adults are understudied. The objectives were to assess the prevalence, incidence and factors associated with psychotic symptoms in a representative Greek sample of community living older adults.

= 1,904 residents of the cities of Larissa and Maroussi in Greece participating in the Hellenic Longitudinal Investigation of Aging and Diet study with available data at baseline and
= 947 individuals at the 3-year follow-up. Past-month presence of delusions and hallucinations was assessed on the grounds of the 17 symptoms of the Columbia University Scale for Psychopathology in Alzheimer’s Disease and 14 symptoms of the Neuropsychiatric Inventory Questionnaire. A comprehensive neuropsychological assessment for probable diagnosis of dementia and physical comorbidity was carried out by neurologists. Penalized logistic regression analyses were used to assess the socio-economic and clinical factors associated with psychotic symptoms.
